Crossing to the parcours
|

Once again the weather conditions kept us to within 50km of Sisteron, although they had improved slightly since yesterday. Cloudbase was about 8500ft which allowed us to use the
parcours, but the Ecrins was still blocked to all but the very brave. Like most of our party we took the opportunity to practice our rock-scraping skills over the local landmarks.

Ubaye Valley

The day winner from our group has to be Tibenham Ken who, after soloing on a local glider yesterday, had his first solo soaring flight today, achieving silver height on the way with a climb to 2500m from 1100m. I understand from his radio messages that he rather enjoyed his flight. |

We have been joined by a party from Lasham, most of whom have not flown here before.
They are (and forgive me if I get this wrong) Bruce, Arwen, Mike, Graham,
Howard and Jeff. Despite the poor conditions all have been impressed by the fabulous scenery in this part of the
Alps and they are already making plans to return next year. That evening
we had a great meal together at Le Janus, enjoying monster pizzas
and red wine. Thanks guys... |
