The house La
Toupine was originally a bergerie, that is
a sheep-fold or animal shelter. The animals used to live on the bottom floor
with
their food stored on the top floor, while the farmers stayed warm in the middle.
During the past few years the house has been completely restored and modernised.
The photo shows a view of the front, south-facing aspect of La
Toupine.

Upper Floor
 |
The
main bedroom features a comfortable double bed (1.40m), an en-suite
bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space. |
| The main window is south-facing
- and here is the view... |
 |

Middle
Floor
The
main living /dining room and kitchen form the middle floor of La
Toupine. You will find that the
kitchen is fully equipped with a hob (gas & electric), an electric
oven, microwave, a fridge, a kettle and all the usual plates, glasses and
cutlery. There are also raclette and fondue sets as well as an extensive
range of other cooking utensils.
|
|
You
may notice some basic essentials in the kitchen when you arrive. Feel free
to use them; all we ask is that you leave something in return for the next
guests.
A
well-stocked bookshelf lines the stairs which lead down to the lower
floor. Feel free to read them - if
you reach the end of your holiday without reaching the end of your book,
take it home with you. Again, leave a book of your own, for the next
guests. However, we do ask that any book with a 'La
Toupine' sticker attached is left in
the house - these are generally found to be of most use to our guests.
A
TV and CD hi-fi system are also available, so don't forget to bring your
favourite music. A selection of indoor board games is also provided.
The
door from this room leads out to the terrace,
where most meals are taken during the warm summer evenings. It also acts
as the main entrance to the house.
|

Terrace
|
The
terrace is the most popular part of the house and is also used as the main
entrance. Our visitors tend to eat all
their meals here during the summer; in the morning it is already warm enough for
an outside breakfast, while in the evening, the built-in barbecue is available
for preparing dinner.

Lower Floor
 |
This photo shows the
downstairs second bedroom. The door leads to a
patio which looks out across the Sasse valley towards the montagne de
Gache, across the valley. The door to the left of the fire-place leads to a
shower-room, separate toilet and a utility room which contains a second fridge-freezer,
a washing machine and the hot-water tank for the house |
| There
is plenty of storage space under the stairs for your suitcases (or perhaps for
your wine purchases!). |
 |

Patio
 |
Enjoy the
warm provençale sunshine by relaxing on the patio. This part of the
house lies just outside the French Windows on the lower floor and
is south-facing, so sunshine is guaranteed. As you see, comfortable
seats are included when you stay at La
Toupine. |
