Information |
Sites that request information from visitors may do
so in a number of ways. One simple way is to create a customer enquiry
form that will be submitted as an email to the website's email
address.
Another approach may be to store information entered
on a series of forms in a database that can be analysed in order to,
for example, define the future strategy of a company. The database
that records the information may be an MS Access database for low-level sites,
or SQL Server for sites that are expected to be heavily utilised. It
will be held in a hidden folder on the server and thus will be secure
from unauthorised access by regular site visitors. The database in
such sites will be accessed using a combination of Active Server Pages (ASP) and

| Posting Information |
Some sites may invite postings from
visitors that are expected to become available to all
other site visitors - for example, supplying photographs or uploading
files for immediate viewing or downloading by other users.
| Online Shopping |
Some sites may require customer interaction, such as
an on-line shopping site. Such sites require a high degree of security
for log-in facilities, electronic shopping baskets and fully encrypted
payment facilities.
