Winding Down

Ariane decided to fly today in one of the club's Duos with Pierre Barreau, one of the most experienced pilots at the club. She wanted the flight in order to consolidate her knowledge of soaring techniques for getting away from the cuvette. They started by releasing on the Gache below 3000ft, far lower than most visitors would choose, and Pierre proved to her that the mountain still works below the tree-line.

They continued to explore the lower regions of the local hills before progressing on to the parcours and the more scenic pleasures of the Ecrins.

Meanwhile, I had managed to thermal my way up to the northern Ecrins to find some more wave near Mont Pelvoux, this time climbing to 16,000ft.
