Ariane's Story
Today's task was the Tour des Lacs, in which
points were awarded for each lake visited. We took off at around 12.30pm and found the first
hour extremely difficult. Despite the optimism at briefing, the whole airmass from yesterday
had changed and climbs low down were difficult to find. We lost a lot of time at the
start although after reaching Serre Ponçon (50 points) the flight became a little easier,
if still very technical. We decided not to go the the northern lakes but to concentrate on the
Vercors. We turned the Barrage du Sautet (north of Pic de Bure), reached the lake of La Mure then progressed towards the west
past the col de Rousset.
I had never flown before above the Vercors and I was impressed by the geography of the landscape. Another part of the mountains to discover further....
