Competition Time The
club has been holding a Duo Discus competition during the week and Ariane
was given the opportunity to fly with Hervé Perrin, one of the French
team trainers. Regular visitors to Sisteron will also be delighted to learn
that Alain de Bouffant is back! |

Ariane's Story
Today's task was the Tour des Lacs, in which
points were awarded for each lake visited. We took off at around 12.30pm and found the first
hour extremely difficult. Despite the optimism at briefing, the whole airmass from yesterday
had changed and climbs low down were difficult to find. We lost a lot of time at the
start although after reaching Serre Ponçon (50 points) the flight became a little easier,
if still very technical. We decided not to go the the northern lakes but to concentrate on the
Vercors. We turned the Barrage du Sautet (north of Pic de Bure), reached the lake of La Mure then progressed towards the west
past the col de Rousset.
I had never flown before above the Vercors and I was impressed by the geography of the landscape. Another part of the mountains to discover further....

Following the West discovery of some lakes we made our way back towards the south and turned 3 further lakes
(Oraison, Esparron near Greoux and Sainte Croix) A total of 6.30 hours flown and 650 points.
We finished 2nd for the day and our Duo is currently 1st overall.
