Bubbling over the Ecrins

While this photo appears to place us impressively surrounded by cloud over hostile and wholly unlandable terrain, we were in fact only 30km from the airfield of St Crepin, with a route back in clear air. Spectacular views like this make our journeys memorable and worthwhile, and as far as safety issues are concerned (as one might say in today's media-speak), it's all about keeping one's options open.
